We never like to speak ill of French Bulldogs on this blog, but today it’s different. Frenchies are famous for lots of reasons: bat-like ears, smushed faces, and a cute underbite. But one thing that only really Frenchie owners know is that they’re also known for their toxic farts.

The reason why Frenchies have terrible gas is in large part due to their digestive system. Diets make a difference, but also how you feed your dog matters too. Frenchies have very sensitive digestive systems, so it’s important to feed them a healthy diet. They also swallow a lot of air because they’re a brachycephalic breed, and that’s part of why they fart more than other breeds. If they’re eating too fast then that could also be a big problem. And finally just like in humans if dogs sit around and get fat they get gassy. Try taking your dog on some nice walks! Losing weight will help cut down of flatulence, and make you AND your bulldog less fat and stinky.
