Meet Mutt, the Frenchie hero of the First World War!

Get ready to learn about the heroic and adventurous story of Mutt, the French Bulldog who served in the First World War. As you watch the video, you'll see this little guy was a true hero.

Mutt was owned by the YMCA, and his job was to deliver cigarettes to members of the US Army’s 11th Engineers. But he wasn't just any delivery dog, he was a trench runner, bringing comfort and companionship to soldiers in need of a little pick-me-up.

As a Frenchie, Mutt was no stranger to the battlefield, and he was used for a variety of purposes, including finding wounded soldiers, pulling machine guns and equipment, and even serving as a battalion mascot.

Mutt's service to his country wasn't without injury, as he was wounded a couple of times during the war. But he was a tough little guy who soldiered on, continuing to provide cigarettes to the front-line troops.

After the war, many service dogs were left behind, but Mutt was one of the lucky ones. His soldier owners recognized the sacrifice he had made and brought him back to the United States for retirement.

But getting Mutt home wasn't easy. He had to be smuggled on board a boat, and at one point, he was threatened with being thrown overboard. Fortunately, his savior intervened, and Mutt made it back to American shores safely.

Once back in New York, Mutt lived out the rest of his days before passing away of natural causes some years later.

Mutt's story is just one example of the amazing things French Bulldogs can do. Frenchies have been around longer than you might think, and there are even instances where they have been present in huge historical moments, such as on the Titanic.

French Bulldogs are faithful and loving companions, and Mutt's story proves that they can also be heroes. So the next time you see a Frenchie, remember Mutt and the important role he played in history.
